How to save a video
Three easy steps. Anyone can do it.
M3u8 Pro turns a streaming video link into a single file you can keep. You do not need any technical knowledge — just a link you have the right to save. Here is the whole process from start to finish.
Step 1 — Paste the link
Copy the video link and paste it in the big box on the home page, then press “Find video”. A valid link usually ends in “.m3u8”. The tool will read it and show you the qualities that are available.
Step 2 — Pick the quality
Choose how clear you want the video. Higher numbers like 1080p look sharper but the file is bigger and takes longer to save. Lower numbers like 480p save faster and use less space. Pick whatever suits your device and internet.
Step 3 — Name it and save
Type a name for your video and press “Save video”. A progress bar shows how much is done, the speed, and the time left. Wait until you see “Saved!” — your file will be in your Downloads folder, ready to play.
Tips for the best results
- Use a stable internet connection. A dropped connection can interrupt a large download.
- Keep the tab open until it says “Saved!”. The download happens in your browser, so closing the tab stops it.
- For long videos, expect the file to split into parts (part1, part2, …). This is normal and keeps your browser stable.
- On phones, make sure you have enough free storage before saving high-quality videos.
If something goes wrong
- “Not a valid m3u8 playlist” — the link is not a streaming playlist, or it expired. Copy a fresh link and try again.
- The download stops partway — check your internet and press “Try again”. Very large files may need a second attempt.
- “This stream is encrypted” — the video is DRM-protected and cannot be saved. We respect that protection.
- Nothing plays after saving — the file ends in .ts; open it in VLC or MX Player, which support it out of the box.
Common questions
Where do I find the video link?
On the website playing the video, the link often ends with “.m3u8”. Some course sites show a “copy link” option. Paste that link on our home page.
Why is my video saved in two or more parts?
Very big videos (over about 1.5 GB) are saved as part1, part2 and so on, so your browser doesn't crash. Each part plays on its own in order.
Which app plays the saved file?
The file ends in .ts. It plays in VLC, MX Player, and most modern video players on phone and computer.
Can I close the page while saving?
No. Keep the page open until it says “Saved!”. Closing it stops the download and you'll need to start again.
Why can't some videos be saved?
Some videos are locked with protection (DRM). We respect that and don't save them. Some sites also block outside access.
